The Brazil great believes there is a dearth of quality players beyond the Barcelona and Real Madrid trio
Brazil legend Ronaldo says there is not enough star players in football despite the presence of Lionel Messi,Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo and Messi are the only two players to have won the Ballon d'Or in the last seven years, while Neymar has been tipped to rival the pair in the future.
However, Ronaldo - who played for both clubs during his playing days - believes there is a big gap between those three players and rest of the game.
"As Zinedine Zidane said, I think Messi is incredible, Ronaldo is amazing and Neymar is incredible but I think world football is missing some stars," he is quoted as saying by Marca.
The 38-year-old added that he does not want to follow his old team-mate Zidane and pursue a career in coaching.
"He is my friend and we talk a lot about football even today. Today he is a coach, but that's one thing I don't want in any way.
"The pressure is the same, just not the one which you get on the pitch."
Ronaldo said he could return to playing if Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the club in which he owns a stake, make it to the play-offs of the North American Soccer League.
"It's a thing I want a lot but I don't know if I'll get there. I feel pain in my muscles when I play. I stopped playing because of a groin injury. It was the worst pain I've ever had and I lost a lot of pace."
